We have upgraded to CUSTOMCORNEA, the highest quality of laser vision correction available today. Conventional laser vision correction can produce excellent results, but CUSTOMCORNEA delivers even better results for many patients.
Because of the high demand for laser vision correction, surgeons and laser manufacturers have been inspired to make tremendous advances in three key areas:
- Improving the precision of the excimer laser
- Measuring all of the eye's optical distortions
- Personalizing laser treatment to match each eye's unique optical characteristics
Wavefront technology was developed by NASA while studying distant planets. It was discovered that this same technology used to correct distortions of light waves from space was also perfect for accurately mapping the human eye. It can track and compensate for eye movement 4,000 times per second, ensuring more accurate placement of the laser beam.
Until now, conventional laser vision correction could only correct lower order visual distortions (nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism). There are other imperfections that may affect the clarity of your vision and how well you see at night or in low light. These are called "higher order aberrations," which can cause glare, halos, shadows and other bothersome visual effects. Unless the higher order aberrations are addressed along with the lower order aberrations, the quality of your vision may not be ideal, even if you have measurable 20/20.
CUSTOMCORNEA LASIK - Even Better Than Standard Lasik
- More patients achieve 20/20 vision or better
- Less chance of contrast sensitivity problems or night vision glare
- Has helped millions of people reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses or contact lenses
How does it work?
First, wavefront analysis (the technology NASA developed) is used to map the human eye and analyze areas of distortion or displacement. Light passes through the eye and is reflected back. If the pattern returned is exactly as it was sent, your vision is functioning properly. Aberrations of the visual system are revealed in the returned image and can be specifically targeted.
Using the LADARVision system, the wavefront analysis is perfectly aligned with the surface of your cornea, guiding the LADARWave during the reshaping process. The LADARVision system is the only laser system that can maintain precise alignment.
Our practice is dedicated to providing the most technologically advanced procedures. That is why we have invested in the LADARVision System. It is now possible to address both lower and higher order aberrations better than conventional laser vision correction.
